The Strategic Objective For An Internet Home Business Opportunity

by Sampson on January 22, 2010

If you haven’t read the last post about how to determine your Primary Aim, I strongly encourage you to do so as this will give you a better understanding of this article.

OK so once you’ve determined what your Primary Aim is, you then turn to your Strategic Objective.

Your Strategic Objective is a clear statement of what your Internet Home Business Opportunity has to ultimately do for you to attain your Primary Aim.

It is a set of standards for measuring your progress and a template for your business and ensuring that the standards shape your business and your experience you receive from the business.

Most Internet entrepreneurs fail to set standards for their businesses thinking that it’s a part time, casual thing. But I believe you are a serious and smart entrepreneur and you have set some standards, at least, for your business. Because any standards are better than no standards at all.

Here is a couple of standards that need to be included in your Strategic Objective

  • The First Standard: Money

The first standard of your Strategic Objective is money. How big is your vision? What exact amount of money do you want to earn at the end of your first year in that Internet marketing company? At end of your 2nd, 5th or 10th year with this Home Business Opportunity? $250, 000? $1million? You decide! But think don’t think small. Think BIG.

If you do not know the answer, how could you possibly be certain that this Online marketing company you’re signing up with will be able to help achieve your Primary Aim? Lots of people make the mistake of not knowing exactly what they should be shooting for. So if haven’t please do.

Essentially what you need to know is ‘How much money will I need to live the way I wish? How much money do you need in order to be independent of work, to be free?

Then a business that can give you that kind of money will be worth your while.

At this point another set of standards are immediately brought into the picture. Because once you’ve created a set of financial standards for your life, once you know what your Internet business needs to provide you with as a return on your investment, it becomes obvious that your business has a realistic chance of achieving those standards, of producing that return on your investment.

How can you know whether it does or not? By determining whether the Internet Home Business is an:

  • Opportunity Worth Pursuing.

An Opportunity Worth Pursuing is a business that can fulfill the financial standards you’ve created for your Primary Aim and your Strategic Objective. If it is reasonable to assume that it can then pursue it. If it is unreasonable to assume that it can, then no matter how exciting, interesting, or appealing the business is, forget it. Walk away from it. This is because it will prevent you from finding a true Opportunity Worth Pursuing.

How do you know you have an Opportunity Worth Pursuing? Look around and ask yourself this question: ‘Does the Internet business I have in mind of joining alleviate a frustration experienced  by a large enough group of consumers to make it worth my while?’ It will determine what you’ll need to sell and who to sell it to.
