“I have no right to say or do anything that diminishes a man in his own eyes. What matters is not what I think of him, but what he thinks of himself. Hurting a man in his dignity is a crime.” [1]
Therefore, a real leader will…
“Let the other person save face.” [1]
So you have built your home based business to the level where you now have a team. By the way do not fret and dismiss this post because you do not have team yet; you just got started or better still, you are just looking for the right home business job to create wealth online. You will soon have a team if you follow through and take the actions needed.
It is never fun whenever we are reprimanded; be it at home, on the job, at school or even in your home based business even though you are your own boss. And, it’s even worse when it is done in the presence of others.
It does not matter how hard we try, we will always make mistakes simply because we are humans! As a leader, one of the greatest things you can do for the other person – your spouse, child, a team member at your day job, etc – is to protect them against the humiliation from the mistakes and allow them to save face. And allow them to correct their mistakes.
At the home, it is recommended that the rebuke, if needed, should be done in private.
However, in your online business, how do you allow someone to save face when they go wrong?
To be able to create wealth online, in your home business you will have to do deal with people, usually your team members. If your Internet marketing company provides training on marketing online, your team members should be able to duplicate your efforts with a bit of direction from you. This is the only way you will truly create residual income in the short- and long-term.
Due to the nature of our industry where we hardly meet people on our team face to face, unless at a marketing conference, it may not be very practical to say you’ll let someone save face in a meeting to present business report.
However, at the end of the day, it all comes down to communication. Email is our most reliable form communication yet. Even if you are right and the other person is definitely wrong, we only destroy ego by causing someone to lose face in any form communication we may use.
Next time someone is wrong, perhaps by not honoring a scheduled appointment with you, or your team, don’t destroy existing working relationships hitherto by telling them off in your emails and other established forms of communication you may have. You may get it off your chest, but you also end up creating enemies for yourself. And we don’t want that!
Thanks
