Small Home Business Opportunities – How To Fix The Faults

It is always easier to listen to unpleasant things after we have heard some praise of our good points.Therefore always begin with praise and sincere appreciation.

May I share this with you in an attempt to illustrate my topic? I promise I won’t bore you…

I have a team member from Down Under in my small home business opportunity. When she joined a couple of months ago, we agreed, per her own suggestion, that she would write an article per day as part of her personal marketing campaigns. To give her some guidance on Article Marketing, I asked her to send me her first couple of articles for a personal review from an experienced eye before submitting to the Article Directories.

First two weeks passed after our agreement and she hadn’t send the articles. I phoned her to find out if she needed any further assistance to which she said no. She just hadn’t been able to get round writing those articles as procrastination had gotten the better of her. So we re-scheduled for her to write them articles.

One further week passed, then two weeks and then 4 weeks, still no results.

So on our next one-on-one consultation I decided to apply one of the Internet marketing jewels I learned from Dale Carnegie’s “How To Win Friends And Influence People” – that a leader will begin will praise and sincere appreciation.

I know that she had set up her business back office very well with no support from me so I complemented her for taking the initiative and getting things done correctly. She has also done her keyword research on the articles she wanted to write and these were and are very good keywords. So I praised her on that too.

Then I suggested that we go through the procedure of writing the first article which she readily agreed.

Guess what two days after we talked, I had five well written articles in my inbox awaiting my review. I got more than I bargained for. And boy is she a good writer! She’s off to a flyer now.

OK that’s the end of the story… Here are the lessons…

I could have slammed her for not being serious about building a legit home business. I could have criticized her for not keeping her word. But I have become adroit to do that now.

Someone may not be up to speed but as Mr Carnegie puts it, beginning with praise is like the dentist who begins his work with Novocain. The patient still gets a drilling, but the Novocain is pain-killing.
